Once upon a time in a land far away, lived a magical publishing company called Stampinton & Co. One day I got a email from a very nice princess named Jennifer. She asked if my Princess Lilly and Bunny and her Egg would like to visit them? "I don't know" I exclaimed. "Let me ask them". They squealed with delight. Not to mention all the jumping around they did, but they told me not to say that. Shhhh! LOL!

So off they went, a little nervous but sooooo excited to meet all their new friends and see what Jennifer had in store for them. As the post man whisked them away, a tear of joy and just a tiny bit of sorrow, fell from my eye. But I knew this was their destiny.

Time pasted, it seemed like forever that my fair friends had been gone. But suddenly, an email came from Jennifer. "They have arrived and we are now photographing this lovely ladies". I was so excited for them.

Yes, it is true, my Princess Lilly and Bunny and her Egg got published! I am so very proud and grateful for this opportunity. Thank you Jennifer and Stampinton and Co.

It is a great honor and privilege.

Meet Frost. She is looking forelorn. She can't find a friend to play with. She's waiting patiently for her friend. I made this wonderful snowgal with a whimsical touch. She has hand painted eyes and mouth, clay nose and is carrying a glittered snowball. Vintage tinsel adorn her dress and as you can see, she loves polka dots. I love how this darling basket with a tealight inside came out. It is very primitive. I rubbed a mixture of spices to add a more prim touch and they also scent it just wonderfully. Where are you going?

I hate to repeat this one more time, but it has been a long time since I have posted. Way, way longer than it should ever have been. I have moved. The house we moved into is wonderful. It isn't old and huge and right on a corner so the noise is almost unbarable. It is a wonderful, little house, athough still in the city. Not so much fun. God has been amazing and he opened this door up for us to move here. We have a wonderful landlord and so far, great neighbors. Even though it is still in the city, it is good. I will get some pictures of this sweet house in the next post so you can see how darling it is. It is what they call a bungalow and I just love it.

Well, the beauty in all this is that God has opened doors for me to start wholesaling my dolls. I am excited and a bit nervous but still happy these doors are opening up. Below is one of my wholesale dolls and he is up for sale but as a wholesale doll. You would have to have a brick and mortar store or an online store in order to purchase him wholesale. Otherwise he can be bought retail for $38.99. Just email me if you are interested in him.

No matter what I am pleased that these wholesale doors are opening up and am glad to be going somewhere with my business. I already have 2 stores I'm wholesaling with and hopefully more on the way.

We moved. Yeah its true. It's one of the main reasons I haven't posted or made and dollys. We finally found a house and I give God all the glory. Here's the story.

I had been looking for a house to rent for over a month. I road around my neighborhood, checked out Craigs List almost daily, newspaper searched and more. I was getting discouraged. Many folks wanted tons of $$$ for us to move in, others wanted nothing to do with us since we had dogs, especially a Rottwiler. (big chickens) I prayed on day to the Lord and said "Lord I am doing my part, searching and praying, when am I going to find a house.

A week later, my friend Alice, (who describes herself as 3 years from 90) asked me if I had found a house yet. "Ah no I replied". She told me she might know of one and then hurried off to her car. I didn't think anything about it most of the day. Later that evening, I got a call from who else, but Alice. "I think I have a house for you, can you come right over"? "Sure" I said and headed right over. Alice took my hand and we walked up the street together as she told me about this lovely house and landlord. I had seen this house before, but thought nothing of it.

When I entered the house, my mouth dropped open. it had arched doorways, french doors, two bathrooms with TUBS!!! Yea, I haven't had a bath in 7 years (our old house only had a nasty old shower). A sweet breakfast nook and a lovely fenced yard.

On My Journey

So this journey has begun. I discovered in my book on "boundaries" that boundaries are like fences. Fences identify our boundary lines, this is my property , I take care of it, manage it and am responsible for it. However, when you grow up in a home where your boundary lines are repeatedly crossed, not respected or protected by those you love, you have trouble as you get older identifying where those personal "boundaries" or fence line begin and end and where to draw the line with others.
I grew up in a home where my brother was allowed to beat on me, abuse my car, fling plates at me and put my head through a wall. I still suffer from that physical damage today. (Yeah, this is hard to discuss) My brother was an alcoholic and drug abuser. He beat on me to make himself feel better. So as you can see he did not respect my fence, he marched right through it. The worst of it yet was my parents never held him accountable for that abuse and so even to this day after he has supposedly been with AA for years, he has never "made amends" with any of us as he is supposed to do. He doesn't even realize that he has offended, hurt and abused his own family, because he was never shown true boundaries from those who raised him. Because of those blurred boundaries, my brothers and I suffer and I made the choice to marry an alcoholic. Where is my fence line???
All fences need to have gates. The gates are to let those who truly love us in and keep the bad and not so good people out. I am learning to identify who and what they are, it is a slow process. Years of keeping the bad people in and not knowing who the good people really are to let in, will take time to correct. One of the things I am learning to identify, is that little voice in my head that tells me "RED FLAG" don't touch that!!!! Don't go there, or don't be apart of it, don't let them in. It also tells me there are good, kind, loving and trustworthy,people. I'm learning to listen to that voice. It takes practice and good listening skills. LOL! Will be working on that for awhile I"m afraid.

Lastly, I'm discovering that I too am responsible for my choices and that I don't have to do anything anybody else trys to make me do....really. I don't!!! Do you ever do this: you have something you really need to do, but the person your with, can't seem to get you home on time, they have to go here and there and in the meantime, you have asked them to please take you home. They don't, they just keep doing what they want, don't mean to make you late but just one more stop, Ok?!? So what could I have done different. Well I don't like to be yelled at so I just suffer in silence, or I say this "take me home NOW!!! I have asked you repeatedly and you are not respecting my needs as well. If you can't respect what I need then pull over and get me a cab, I HAVE TO GO HOME NOW!!!! Which will get their attention and results? I usually do the first choice. If I do the first choice, I get so mad and fume for days, nothing gets resolved and that person does it again and again and again. I didn't set the boundaries with that person. That really happened to me. If nothing else, I should have never stepped foot in her car again and told her why I won't.

Fear drives me, but I believe through this journey of self discovery and God's guidance, I will truly learn to set boundaries. I just put the first fence post in the ground today. See ya at the next fence post.

Identifying the Problem

Identifying the problem. Yeah, that's what is happening to me. For the past several months we have been struggling with some major, life changing financial difficulties. Along with that I have become overwhelmingly hit with despair, hopelessness and emotional and mental fatigue. Not to mention, lack of creativity.

But the biggest problem that has arisen is what has been happening for 20 years in my family's life. So this blog will be sorta of a journal if you don't mind of where I am at now and hopefully where God is leading and teaching me for the future.

I will make no bones about it my husband is an alcoholic. Full blown, practicing one and the devastating affects on my home, marriage and children is unmeasurable. So when my husband lost his job for 18 months and the bills piled up and accusations and frustrations started to fly, an awareness of my surroundings and life started to emerge.

It wasn't till the foreclosure and bankruptcy happened that an acute awareness of this debilitating disease surfaced and my despair swallowed up my life. I started emotionally and physically separating from my spouse. I moved into my daughter's vacant bedroom and set up my mini apartment, my emotional safe haven so to speak. It was were I could cry with out disturbance, read, sleep without the smell of alcohol laden air and just somewhere to find a small spot of peace.

But life wasn't good and I stopped talking and trying to have a normal relationship with my husband. I just shut down. I no longer tried repeatedly to get him to stop talking nor did I converse with him except on the absolute necessities regarding children and home. The overwhelming sense of despair was starting to take over and I felt like I was no longer bobbing my head above water, but sinking into the abyss. I realized fully of my problems when I went to renew a phone card and could not say one sentence coherently, I just didn't make any sense. After this terrible experience, I walked into our local book store and found my way into the Christian section searching for Amish romance novels, my mental escape. But God had better plans for me and led me to a self help section and there it was, a book on "Boundaries"." I don't need this stupid book" I thought but God really does know better. And so this journey begins.....

OBX here we come

Doesn't this look so inviting?!? This path is calling out for you to walk down it and in 2 days, that is exactly what my family and I will do.

I have walked on, under and stood on many Outer Bank piers before, they are so relaxing!

I have been to this Cape Hatteras light house and it is magnificent and huge. It is the largest light house in the nation and can be seen 20 miles out to sea. It warns the sailors of the treacherous shallow sandbars which extend 14 miles out to sea.

We are staying at Kill Devil Hills and I hope to take my son and his friend to visit the Wright Brothers museum. Orville and Wilber Wright flew the first powered airplane at Kill Devil Hills, NC. It lasted 12 seconds and fly 120 ft. Hope we get to visit the museum for more history. I'm sure the boys will love it. LOL!

These are the OBX ponies whose decendents landed on this Island several hundred years ago. They are called Banker Ponies of Ocracoke and legend has it that they were left here by shipwrecked explorers possibly when Sir Richard Grenville's ship wrecked in 1565. They lived through many a hurricane, which I find amazing, they are tough little horses. I have never got to see them and probably won't this time either, since it is a short stay. But I plan on returning to OBX and this is my next stop in the future. Love these sweet ponies.

This mini vacation is very needed since we are going through a very tough time right now. Bankruptcy and foreclosure has taken its toll on my nerves and I need a break and change of scenery. Will be back on Monday next week, hopefully refreshed and ready for new challenges. Have a safe and wonderful Memorial weekend everybody.

Princess Lilly

Well good Monday morning to everyone. I hope you had a blessed week end. As you can see, I have been a bit busy creating my new offering for WSOAPP and thought I might share her with you. She is a royal, oh yes, she is (well in her world anyway). Princess Lilly just got back from the royal wedding with Prince Will and Kate and is having her cup of tea to relax.
She is hoping to hear from Prince Harry as she told him that one kiss will make her into a beautiful girl. But be warned Prince Harry, it may make you into a handsome Prince frog. LOL! I have hand painted her face and hand stitched her mouth. She is wearing a paper crown and her jacket and lace are all vintage and antique. That tiny little tea cup is from my daughter's set. Times Flys When Your Scrubbing Toilets!

Can someone tell me where the time went? This year seems to be going so fast that I can't catch up. I know I wished for Spring to show up as soon as Christmas was over, LOL! But didn't realize how fast it snuck up on me. You see I have started cleaning houses for work and that has been such a hard adjustment, then I injured myself too! Fell flat on my face chasing a customer's puppy. Oh that darling pup, who just had to dart out of the door as we were leaving. But we had em cornered, so we thought, I dove right at the puppy, trying to grasp his darling little neck with my fingers. But as my body hit the ground, my back and neck arched and wham! Can you say "CHIROPRACTOR"?!? Try not to laugh. But I have had 2 visits to the chiropractor and not sure if I will have to go back again. Oh yeah, that darling little pup got away!

Hard to believe that we started a cleaning business at our ages, but its true and I am 52 years old. My body is not taking to it to kindly like it did when I had a cleaning business in my 30's. So here I am trying to clean houses and I hurt so bad, yeah, I'm not in shape and I know what your thinking..."what the heck is a 50+ gal doing cleaning someone else's house, is she nuts?" Well if you could tell me how to get a job at my age, I'll stop doing it. Many applications later and some age discrimination on the side, I got nothing, yep, not one single interview, so I'm scrubbing toilets and dusting tables. Not happy about it, yeppers, not one bit. My partner, who is 46 years old, is feeling the pain too but she can clean a customer's house then go ahead and then clean her own house right after. Well I say, "you take this business over, I'm too tired and hurt beyond belief." She laughs but it is true. Things hurt that I didn't even know I had, LOL! So we will see how long I can hang in there.

So that is why I haven't had one chance to post since January, time flys when we are having fun, scrubbing toilets or falling down on the job. Ugh! My aching back!

Christmas Cheer and A Little Swap

I thought I would take a few pics of my home all decorated for Christmas. Now I am one for doing my best to take good pics but somehow these are not very desirable I'm afraid. But you can get the gist of my holiday decorating (forgive the blurriness, I haven't the foggiest on why they are coming out this way).

Now I just love Santa's, don't you! I can never have enough and just love to display them in my living room on my fire place mantel. There are all different styles and I even have more in a box somewhere. My Christmas tubs got moved so many times, they are LOST IN SPACE............

I just love this yellow 1900 century hutch and it is really so much fun to decorate as well. Now who is that peeking out from behind the garland, what, its Frosty trying to stay cold. Well that won't be a problem will it. Let me tell you a little story about that garland. Yeah, my friend talked me into that L-natural berry stuff but she forgot to mention HOW PAINFUL GETTING YOUR FINGERS STUCK 100 TIMES IS!!!!! Yeah, those darling berry branches are loaded with thorns and HURT LIKE THE DICKENS!!!!! Ok, I'm alright now.

This is my meager dinning room table, I turned my quilt upside down and just showed the white backing, then I laid a table runner across then added my wonderful old coca cola box, candles, real pine needles yeah you guest it, those amazingly painful BERRIES. Oh and this wonderful glass container with a Santa inside.

This sweet angel was made for a swap. I have not received my dolly as of yet, but this is the one I sent my partner. I hope she likes it. Her eyes came out really well I think.

Here's a pic of her again. Her skirt is really that puffy. LOL! She's a fancy angel, tee, hee.
Camara's who needs em, shesh, mine is driving me nuts. But I will mess with the little bugger tomorrow and maybe get a few pics of some other Christmasy spots here at the old homestead.

Weather Outside is Frightful, but D.S. Griffith Open House is Delightful

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the "Open House" at "D.S. Griffith and Co. is so delightful. So if the winter winds want to blow, you gotta go, gotta go, gotta go. New Offerings for Snugglebug

This darling sunflower will look lovely in a tart burner with a star, which is soon to be listed too. The sunflower smells like pan cakes in the winter. Well I will be putting some on my website soon. Will keep you posted.

These are wood turnings made into decorative candles holders. (Not to burn) So love them and they have a nice scent too!

This little diddy is just darling and holds a battery operated tea light and or a real tea light, whatever you prefer. I dressed it up with the Christmas garland. Cute huh?!?

So love this prim tinware in mustard. I placed a grungy battery operated light in it to gussy it up. Its great because you can put prim fixins in there to add some smelling good fragrance.

Offerings at Colorfest Craft Show

This broom belongs to a very scary, extreme prim Witch named "Wicked". She's so scary I can't even tell you where you can find her just yet. But she will soon be revealed in due course. Tee hee!

This Folk Art face is of a Santa. I will be working on his pattern after my craft show this week end.

21 Inches of Rain

Who said the Noah's Ark" story isn't true. Do you remember last week when the south got hit with over 21" of rain in one day? Here are some of the results.

These pictures are from my friend Tamara from "Bridgeway Primitives". I hadn't heard from her in a couple of days after the rain poured down and as you can see the pictures tell why.

She did not say this way her home but I am assuming it is. She said the bridge washed out and they could not leave their home to get anywhere but they are safe and their home made it too. God is good.

I know there are many sceptics out there that believe Noah's Ark and the world flood is just a story, but I pose this question to you...if just 21" of rain can do this kind of damage in just 1 day, what do you think 40 solid days of non-stop rain could do?

God did promise he would never flood the earth again and gave us a rainbow as a symbol of his promise. He gave his son as a offering of forgiveness for you. Won't you ask him in your heart today?

I wasn't sure if I would get in as it is so difficult to do so with the bigger sites. An Open House was on Saturday that I was in and I actually (do to being so busy) forgot about applying to this great site. On Monday, this week however, I got an email to die for!!! Fanny Crosby wrote over 5,000 hymns in her day. Many have been added to our hymnals for singing and many artists have updated some songs for a more modern edge. Her willingness and trust in our savior even in her blindness humbles me to the core. Please read on.

Crow and his Pumpkin

I've got a new pattern coming called "Crow and His Pumpkin". Yeah these two are inseparable and are best friends. They are easy to make and the pattern is coming soon.

See how Crow is attached to his buddy Pumpkin? Pumpkin's name is really Bob, but he doesn't like that name so well.

Pumkins and Tarts Everywhere

Pumpkins here, pumpkins there, primitive pumpkins everywhere! I love Fall. I have to say it is my favorite time of year. Kids back in school, the cool nights, leaves sparkling with red, orange, green and yellow and most of all fall decorating. With pumpkins on my porch and dried corn stalks and a crow or two, it feels like fall.

These two guys are just a few of my offerings coming to Lemon Poppy Seeds on the first.

Below is what I have been up to, my new business that will be starting soon. I am working on the packaging and then they will be listed on my site, www.snugglebugprimblessins.com. The tarts are made from soy wax and hold a scent very well. Lovin' it!!!

On the lower right side you will see a chocolate cheese cake smelling soap bar. It is made from goats milk soap and is very moisturizing and smells wonderful.

Check out the tiny pumpkins on the tarts. These tarts smell like buttery carmel, warmed with a touch of cinnamon, yummy! What a great fall scent these have. My house smells great!

The above pic is my new tart business, its coming soon. As soon as I have the packaging is done, they too will be offered on my website. I may have a give away in the next week or two if I can get my packaging done asap.

Lately in all this insanity of renovating, meeting special orders and starting a new business I have found time to read. I don't even know why I started to read novels again. It was on a whim that I picked up a book, a book on the Amish of all readings. The novel was fiction but the values where Amish values, ones I come to cherish. As a Christian, reading how the Amish court, live and love has made me cry, rejoice and very, very convicted.

I've started talking to my children differently. As a matter of fact, I have added more chores, taken away TV somewhat and I now just read instead of watching that blasted thing. What a time stealer, family robber and opinion maker that TV is. Don't get me wrong, I may still watch it, but after reading some of the stistics from the Amish, I may never turn it on again. Read below.

Some interesting facts.

1. Wealth - A research from the Ohio State U. found that Amish farms income can be 10 times higher than that of a modern high tech farm.

2. Retirement - Most Amish have accumulated enough wealth to retire between 50-60 years of age.

3. Death - When someone dies young teens (age 16 and up) go the night before the funeral and sing, as many as 300 or more come and sing, can you invision your teen doing this???

4. Forgiveness - When the Amish Nickel Back school shooting took place (Amish children where shot and killed) the parents, grandparents, friends, family and more showed up to the shooter's house, engulfed the family with food, hugs, prayers and comfort. One grandfather of a victim embraced and hugged the shooter's father as he cried in his arms. The Amish attended his funeral and continued to comfort the family far after the shooting and funeral took place.

5. Faith - Faith is the core value they live their lives by. They don't preach faith, they live it day in and day out in every aspect of their lives.

Wings and Fairys and Crowns Oh My

Getting Better and New Offerings on LPS

Hi gals, thought I would give you an update on my health situation. I am on the mend, do not have an infection, hooray. Just taking a bit longer to recover, I keep trying to do things around the house and it puts me back on the sofa, grrrr!!! So I am still trying to take it a bit easy. But getting better.

I have had some of these dollies somewhat finished before surgery and decided, (since I can't drive or do much else) to finish them up. This is Helga Witch and she is to be listed on Lemon Poppy Seeds tomorrow. Her smile kinda reminds you of the Grinch huh?!? You can see the full version of her July 1st Thursday.

This is Tilly the Field Mouse. Sooooooooo loves her flowers, the field has so many to chose from but these will do today. She too can be found on LPS July 1st.

Suzie the Field Mouse is almost 5" not including her tail of course. She loves going to the field to pick flowers and she can be found on LPS July 1st, tomorrow.

Recovery Not So Good

Please pray for me gals. My surgery went well my recovery not so good. I had a neck injury some years ago and laying around has caused me constant headaches, back aches and with taking the medication to help ease the head ache pain, everything tastes horrible. I will contact my doctor this morning and try to figure this out. My meds make me very sleepy, but if I don't take them, I can't get rid of my head aches. Grrrrr.

Yesterday, I was running a low grade fever, as we know that's not good. so please pray for me, I need all of the prayers you can give right now. Thanks so much. God bless. Cathy

I Made it through surgery

Yes it is true. I survived my surgery. Was it pleasant well as pleasant as surgery can be. I am happy to say that the cyst was on the outside of my ovary instead of inside. Which means I still have both my ovary's and they look. Good. Forgive me if this is a little loopy here and there. I won't be on long.

The hardest part is laying around. My back is sore and so I keep shifting and get up to move the body parts around. I need a bath and will try to take one tomorrow. Can't wait for that. Ugh!!! The insiztion is sore but not bad. I am able to finish peeing for the first time in years. I can't believe that. He said the cyst was siting on my blatter and leaning on my intestines. Explains alot. I won't go into in now since the codine is starting to kick in. Want to make some sense. Will keep you posted. Have a great night. God bless. Cath

Surgery - Finally

Whoever said that government run health care was a great thing to do??? Okay let me explain. Since my husband has been unemployed and we have no healthcare, I have had to go to Social Services to see if I could get medicaid, grrrr. What a nightmare that was. I love standing in the rain for 1 hour and waiting to get a number then waiting to be called to get an appt. ticket ugh (hopefully, many were turned away that waited with me,, they had to come back the next day). One lady had been there 3 times, she was in a wheel chair. Then back to my doctor's office with the slip (I was originally turned down from medicaid the first time) that says I have medicaid. Now don't get me wrong, I am appreciative that I have medicaid. I don't want it but at this time I have no choice. It is having to trust a person I DON'T KNOW FROM ADAM to make that decision for me (because I guess I'm not capable neither is my doctor anymore) on weather I should get surgery or not.

It is true that I am going tomorrow June 17th. So I ask for prayers, know that I will not be blogging or visiting for several days or a week. That I will miss visiting with you all, but surgery calls and that grapefruit sized cyst HAS GOTTA GO!!!

So with that said I will say "see you soon and happy creating"! Can't wait to get back here and see what all you gals have been up to.

A Beautiful Blogger Award

Wow I am so very honored to receive this wonderful award from Jan at www.jansartyactjourney.blogspot.com. She was so kind to give me one of these fabulous awards and God bless her she gave it to me earlier this week and I being partly senile (hee hee) totally spaced it. OMGosh!!!!!!

I am supposed to tell you ten things about myself. Well, lets see if I can remember. LOL!

1. I love to create dolls, any type will do and I love to try new fabrics even if I fail miserably with it. (does that count as two????)

2. I love mixed media art and wish oh boy do I wish I had more time to dive right into it. It is so exciting and freeing to me. Talk about self expression!

3. Oh,no I'm forgetting already. Ugh! Oh yeah, um I love vintage textiles, hankys, lace, table scarfs, doilies anything old and vintage will do. I love to work with them and have quite a stash. Oh I have all my ideas for those, if I could just get them out of my head and onto the sewing machine, wow.

4. Fairies have always been my favorite doll, yes really. Maybe you find that strange since I have done prims for so long. But it is true and I am working on my first fairy art doll as we speak.

5. Love birds, butterflys, sparrows, kitty cats, dogs (have two) and HORSES.

6. Glitter is fastly becoming my best friend.

7. Love the Lord Jesus although I put him in the back seat WAY TO OFTEN!

8. Love my kids with all my heart

9. Love you wonderful gals who visit me and are willing to open up about your lives freely, that is dear to me.

10. Would love to never leave my art room ever, just for food. If I had a bed up there and a fridge oh boy, what bliss that would be.

Bella the Butterfly Fairy - OOAK

I decided to revamp this sweet mixed media fairy. I was not happy with the original way she looked. So I took off her little rag cap and made her a crown. She has a darling face doesn't she.

This is her story. "She carries the nest ever so sweetly. Careful not to tip it in anyway. Sweet is the song her bird sings and she must put the nest in the safest of places.

Bella flys to the highest branch and gently places her sweet bird and nest securely on it. She whispers "stay safe sweet bird" and flys to her home in the deep woods.

All that matters to her she carries in her pouch. Tiny treasures of old and new. A bit of lace, a gold wing, a sweet story page, two eggs and a ticket to fly away. Each treasure is from a special place that she holds in her heart till now."

This mixed media piece is on my Etsy site (go to side bar and click on Etsy site). She is made of wood, fabric, paper, is stamped, buttons, antique lace and more. Loved revamping this piece, she is now ready to fly away.

What I have been working on

Well that was a delightfully boring title to my new post wasn't it. LOL! But I hope you will enjoy the new pics I have and the new dolly I have created. This doll was my first art doll pattern I have tried and even though there are some mistakes I am still very happy with the way she came out. I drew the face on, colored it with pencils, pens and paint too! (sorry the pics are so bad)

For sometime now, my heart has been leaning in another direction regarding my dolls. I have been creating prim dolls for over 15 years now and even though I enjoy creating them, I have become burnt out. I have collected vintage hankys, doilys, and whatnots for years now and have never really used them much in my work. But I got a brain storm not to long ago to use these wonderful works of art and some of the little vintage dollies on the side bar was the start of my journey for the vintage styled doll.

This is a side pic of her dress and vintage hanky, I sewed each pearl on by hand. Loved how it looked.

This hanky was a perfect size for the doll. I used the extra for her sleaves, whataya think????

The pic of her bodice is my daughter's old crushed velvet coat and I sewed the green and red lace on the front too! Some of the flowers were handmade by me as well.

I plan on giving this dolly to my mom since my daughter's fabric and heart charm from a jacket was used. It is her belated Mother's day present. She new it was coming late, but I wanted to take my time on it for her.

This is a new start into another area of doll creations and I am very excited to work on more. I hope you all like what you see, because more is a coming. I will also be creating fairies too, love those little faes. I have a few hiding in my garden. They only come out for nice people. So if you stop by, they will visit with each one of you. How Wonderful it is to be a Mother

It is true is it not, that being a mother has so many perks. Late night feedings, bags under the eye lids, clothes that never go a day without spit up somewhere on them. How about the famous statement that little Johnny makes to the preacher about you and daddy kissing on the sofa last night. Or little Sally loves your earring so much she just yanked it right out of your ear. Ouch.!!!

It is true that being a mother has so many perks and all kidding aside, one of my favorite times with my kids is bed time. Now don't get me wrong, I know some of the jibber jabber from my son is so he can milk his time of going to bed, but really I love to hear him telling me all the wonderful ideas, stories and thoughts he has had that day. In the morning, he always has some wild dream that he loves to tell me in utter detail (usually right before the bus comes so I have to take him to school, LOL) but they are great stories and I wouldn't miss hearing them for the world.

My daughter 17 going on 25 or more, is starting to come into her own. She is finding her way and is starting to get a grasp on what she wants to do in her life and I love the hear her tell me all about it.

I think one of the most beautiful gifts we have as a mother is listening. It is a free gift and it is up to us to take it and cherish it like a beautiful diamond. Our childrens thoughts and ideas only come once, so cherish those moments, listen to them and acknowledge them, give them your FULL attention when you can and watch them blossom beyond your greatest expectations. Well its off to Surgery

I saw the doctor today and we discussed my grapefruit sized cyst. He suggested that I try to remove just one ovary instead of both. Even though I am 51 yrs old, my ovaries still produce a little of the much needed hormones. Better to have the natural one instead of the fake one hey. My right ovary will be checked out and if it doesn't look good, it goes too! My left ovary will be taken out on the 12th if I can get some medicare from the state. See my husband is still unemployed, he is working part time for a friend but it is not enough to take care of all those wonderful medical expenses. I will still get the surgery but I have to jump through all the hoops with the state and hospital first.

Anyway, God is so good. The doctor I am seeing is a Christian dr. and he is only charging me 30% $450 instead of the normal $1,700 to do the surgery. The hospital will charge me well you know, and arm and a leg and then some. Why I get charged $20 per pill is beyond me.

Once everything is taken care of (paper work) then I get my surgery which I need of course. I feel this thing in there every day. Some days it hurts alot. So it's gotta go now. Please pray for me gals that I can get all the financial help possible, that God will open all the doors so we don't sink further in the financial hole than we are already. Jobs here are sparse at best and I can't really get one right now. I still want to finish school which will open up more doors and help pay bills better than minimum wage will.

Been a Little Under the Weather but Better

It's been almost two weeks since my last post. I have not been well I'm afraid. I landed in the ER last Tuesday with unbelievable pain in my ovary. The last time I felt pain like that was when my gallbladder went out of control. Grrrrr!!!!! So needless to say I haven't been here to post. The doctor found a grapefruit sized cyst in my lower left ovary. OMG!!!! Right! The tests reveal it is NOT cancerous. Yippee!!!! But it needs to come out. I will see him tomorrow to decide how, where and what will be done.

In the meantime, I have been working on these silly little dolls and critters. I took a class on Paperclay with Nancye Williams and I still can't get my foil head right, so at this time, I'm using Styrofoam balls. LOL!

I was so unsure of myself that I did the head, neck and bust separately. Why am I such a chicken, hee, hee!

A Funny Little Story of Pink and Blue

Once apon a time in a far away place called West Va. a woman was browsing one of her favorite blogs and discovered the land of Lollishops.com. "Oooooooh" she said with a gasp. "How very nice and what is all this pink and blue?" So she searched and searched and searched some more of this wonderful lolliland of shops, going to and fro loving all the wonderful goodies she found there.

One day she got the greatest idea!!! "I want to live in the land of Lollishops." So she set forth to create wonderful wings of blue and pink, sprinkled with glitter. She also made glorious paper music crowns to go atop each of her new creations.

Day after day she toiled and worked and toiled some more, working diligently on her newest creations. Some went to a magical place called "Petticoats and Parasols." "They will love it there" she said.

But some of her most special creations stayed home.

I have to tell that today I am very sad. I don't normally write about such unhappiness in my life but feel the need to. Since my father's death it seems like my whole family has unravelled. Constant fighting, people jockeying for my mother's attention and some folks taking full advantage of her with their sympathy pleas for $$$.

I won't go into my family's problems, you wouldn't understand all there complexities but I'm sure some of you have your own and know how family's can be. My sister in law whom I have considered my sister for over 30 years has turned her back on me. Ever since the day of my divorce hearing she won't talk to me, emailed me that she wants nothing to do with me ever again. That I am to negative. WHAT???? How on earth do you equate sadness, heart ache, complete loss with negativeness. Yes, I was not happy and yes, I was crying off and on. 18 years of marriage is a very long time to be with someone good or bad and it is devastating to throw it all away. Something I think she will never have to go through and not ever understand. But she has ALWAYS been there for me as I have ALWAYS been there for her.

Being blamed for her medical problems that ensued after my hearing was even more of a blow to me. Not to mention the night before my divorce hearing, my other brother and his wife ripped into me for two hours for something I said. I swear I'm living a nightmare, someone please wake me up, please. I don't claim to be innocent. I was not very nice to my family the night before my hearing. I was after all, a nervous wreck and depressed beyond measure. Something I thought people could have figured out and would have tried to be a bit more tolerant of my mood. But once again, I was wrong.

I realize now that most people can't or won't or simply just to selfish to really care when you need them the most. I also think that I place to much accountability and hope on my family that they will really be there for me in my darkest hours. It's just not true. They are to self involved in their own life and I really don't matter to them. That hurts. But I do know that coming to that decision has freed me. I know it sounds ironic, but it is true. I feel free now that I have set them free from me. I wrote my one sister in law and set her free of all connection to me, then I wished her well, hoped for a full life without me.

Someday I feel God will set it right, but until then I am thankful for all the friends who did stand by me and hold my hand as I walked a path of uncertainty, darkness and despair. They truly are my family and I am humbly grateful for them.

I have since moved back with my husband and things are ok. I will continue to take one day at a time and believe that I am in the hands of the Almighty and he really does know best. Trusting him sometimes can be very scary but Job (found in the Bible) made it through much more heart ache than I have been in, so I think I can too! Thanks my friends for walking beside me in some of my darkness hours...I do see the sunlight coming over the horizon now. God bless, Cathy

Two of My Greatest Achievements

These are two of my greatest achievements. I know that all you moms will say the same about your kids too! My daughter Lauren is 17 now. Where did all that time fly off too??? Does anybody know?!? My son Colin is 9. Aren't they darling together. Yes this is a Kodak moment and a rarity. My son is camera shy so getting him to pose for the picture is like pulling teeth. Maybe if he stood still long enough I might get better shots of him...LOL!

My son is Mr. SMOOOOOOOTH! No really. One day while watching TV, the show said "my sister is the prettiest girl". Well, my son immediately replied. Nun ah, my sister is the prettiest and the smartest". So mom's hold on tight to your girls. Hee, hee.

My daughter is brilliant. No she really is. Her artistic talent will outshine me by miles and in a future post I will show off some of her drawings. I never could draw. I can paint some, but not draw. She can really draw. I have tried repeatedly to get her off to a art school but for some reason she won't go. She is a stubborn thing.

My son is a real jokester. He has a great sense of humor and loves to ride dirt bikes. (Notice the dirt bike tire on his shirt) He is quite the dare devil with them and at times, I couldn't look when he would hit a jump and fly 20ft in the air. Oh, Lord please protect this boy.

God has blessed me with to wonderful, smart, funny and creative kids. He has allowed me to enjoy them and I am thankful to have them in my life.

Getting Ready for Petticoats and Parasols

Teany, tiny pink little crowns. To adorn a dolly or two. This is a sneak peak at what I am up to this week. These dollys and crowns are getting ready to make there way to Savannah to the "Petticoats & Parasols" event there.

Hard to believe I can actually create something in all that mess huh?!? Lots of trimming going on though.

A few of the dollys I have created for that wonderful event. oh how I wish I could go. But alas, it isn't so. But these sweet dollys will report back to me and tell me how much fun they had. LOL!

Will give you a full update once the event has taken place and show you the completed dollys. Lots of vintage, lace, ribbons, charms, fun stuff. I had so much fun creating these sweet gals.

SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) – A federal appeals court in California ruled that the references to God on US bank notes and in the pledge of allegiance to the US flag are constitutional and not religious in nature.

By a two-to-one margin, the three judges overturned their own 2002 ruling that sided with atheist Michael Newdow's complaint that the God mentions established religion and violated the constitutionally mandated separation of church and state.

"We hold it does not -- the pledge is constitutional," said the majority ruling, referring to the vow of allegiance made by children in public schools every morning to the US flag, which includes the line: "One nation under God..."

The pledge was amended in 1954 under president Dwight Eisenhower to include the controversial reference to God.

The panel's decision applies equally to the phrase, "In God we trust," printed on every US bank note and coin in circulation.

"The pledge of allegiance serves to unite our vast nation through the proud recitation of some of the ideals upon which our Republic was founded and for which we continue to strive," the two judges said.

The lone dissenter argued however that the majority's were wrong in asserting that the words "under God" found in the 1954 amendment to the pledge were simply a reference to the limited powers of the federal government.

"That is, of course, an argument dreamt up by my colleagues that can nowhere be found in the congressional record," the dissenting judge said.

"My colleagues have apparently forgotten that it is the Constitution that sets forth the limitations on government power -- not, as far as our laws are concerned, God," the judge added.

Just a reminder that over 80% of the people in this country believe in God or a higher power (this poll was taken by a non-religous group, not my opinion) and pray to Him in times of need, give thanks when they have received a blessing and even curse Him when bad things happen. No matter where you stand with God, most still believe in Him.

I got SCAMED

Over the course of this wonderful blogging event "One World One Heart" I received an email from a lady name Sharm (I think). Anyway, little did I know that she was hosting a horrible scam. They attached their blog to my Dashboard in order to promote their views which I STRONGLY are against in every way. As I am for world peace, loving my fellow man and all that I am not for being scammed to promote Palestine Power or will I ever stand against ISRAEL. They are the basis for my Christine heritage, where Jesus (whom I love) died and rose again for me and you, and as the Bible says to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

I do apologize for coming across angry, but I am so mad at folks who come in the back door to scam us into promoting their beliefs. So let me make mine clear, I am Christian, I love Jesus the son of the living God. I do not wish to offend anyone who has other beliefs than mine. But please use your own blog to promote your beliefs, not trick me into using mine. Those who used this wonderful event to scam us are cowards and snakes in the grass waiting to bite us with their twisted venom. I will pray tonight for the underhanded scammers and that I can and will forgive such pathetic tactics as they have pulled.

For all who know me and know me well you know that I am not a screaming Bible thumper nor do spew this kind of anger at folks, but this was underhanded and as low as they could get. I also wanted you to be aware of this scam. I can only hope that the people who pulled this underhanded scam wake up and realize their sad error.

He's got a face only a mother could love...LOL! Or someone who needs a gentle smile. He is made of paperclay, paint, and lots of glitter. His hat is from an old red sweater and has a rusty bell attached. The faux fur is made of old quilt batting. Some call him primitive, while others call him vintage. Either way, he's a cold little fellow with a warm heart.

Here is a side view of this sweet Snowman! Lots of vintage german glass glitter for extra sparkle! This is the very first attempt at using paperclay. He was lots of fun to make. A papermache ball is used for the base. I will put all post names in a basket and giver a shake. Once my son picks a name, we will notify you and post the winner on my blog. New Year, New Business

It is true that the last year has been the rockiest year of my life with the exception of the year I lost my dad. With my marriage rocking harder than ever and living in my mother's house filled to the brim with people, it has been overwhelming to say the least. In early December I decided to start the close of my business since I could not find a spot anywhere to craft in my mother's overflowing house filled with people, dogs, and stuff. I regret coming to that decision. For most of you that believe God has a plan for our lives, I decided to start talking to my estranged husband about Christmas and where we will spend it. In our conversation, I opened up about the termoil and hardship my kids and I were suffering and we decided it would be best to move back...just as house mates.

It has been such a blessing to be in my home again, even if it is not finished being renovated and possibly never will. I have hit my craft room running and am in the process of creating so many things that I have to take time to finish one project at a time. I am hoping in the very near future, I can aquire a camera since my daughter accidently broke mine and start taking pics of the creations I have been so happy to make and share with you.

I do not want to close my business but will close my website for sure. It is to hard and costly to keep up with but you will be able to find my patterns/epatterns, dollies, and more here and on the below list. My goals for this year are to have give aways on my blog, continue to create patterns/epatterns, list on a new site or two and continue to create new and different creations to tickle your fancy. Closing My Shop

After several weeks of consideration, I have decided to close my business. It was a very difficult decision but for me, it is the right one. I am pulled in to many different directions, can barely keep up with my school and kids so keeping my crafting business was just to hard. I am sadden for sure, this is a very hard thing for me to do, it is my passion, but for now, it is the right thing to do.

I'm Still Alive, Yippee

Hi Ladies, got lots of ya's asking if I'm still alive. It is true, I am. But I am so very busy with cosmetology school that I hardly have time to write. It is going great. I am very much enjoying school, although I don't enjoy the new music that they play and is out there, Its very graphic verbiage and sailor mouth, cuss words. That is hard to hear. But I love learning all the new ways to do hair and have some very nice friends.

Well, about my husband. I have not received child support. DHHR (social services) has dragged and dragged and dragged their feet until I finally put my foot down and called child support services. I am not even listed to receive any support because DHHR never filed even though they repeatedly assured me that they are "working on it"! Ha, Ha, Ha. RIIIIIIIIIIIIGHHHHT!

I saw my attorney (legal aid) and she and I are asking for well I can't tell you until my husband is served, in case he reads this but will keep you posted. Lets say if I do get what I"m asking for he will be really mad!!!!!! Bummer I say. Your kids come first, not getting even with your wife. I asked him to provide coats, pants, hoodys, and winter items since he won't pay support and my little cash from DHHR is barely keeping my car tanked up. None of that has happened. Wonder how the judge will feel about that, hum?!? Has it been hard living here with 11 people, you bet, very hard! Some days I want to go home even with my husband just to have my kitchen again, and QUIET. There is no such thing here at this house, only in the wee hours of the morning when I get up for school. But God is good and he always comes through when we need him and he has. Thank you Lord.

Shops Reopening Soon

So need to get this off my chest folks. For 17+ years I have been married. It has not been a good marriage. I will not bash my husband even though sometimes it would feel better to do so. But I will tell you he is an alcoholic and has always been very verbally abusive. Just recently he threatened to hit me and that is the reason I have finally left him. I really feel he threatened me to get me out of his life for good. And so it is.

My life is in upheavel not having my crafts and supplies here at my moms. All my craft stuff is at my old house so making dollys is out of the question for now and that is killing me. If I'm not creating then I'm going mad! So today I go to pick up some things such as my sewing machine, fabrics, sewing supplies and some of my patterns to work on. Or I will loose my mind. I have stacks of things to do, stuff to pack and phone calls to make and all I really want to do it craft. I need it for sanity sake. So off I go to my old house.

This is not the first time he has threatened me. It is one of the several. I have been thinking of leaving him for a long time anyway. He was worned back in March, but he didn't do anything about trying to make our lives better. The worst thing is how he treats his daughter. It is horrible to say the least. For a child to say she would rather walk down the isle alone instead of having her father walk her, that should tell you something.

So sorry that I am dumping like this but if I don't I will go mad. Thanks for listening and thanks for being there my friends. I don't feel so alone when I hear from you all. I hope in the future I will have positive things to write about but as for now, I'm gloomy and broken hearted.

There are several things that are good. The first one is that I will be going to beauty school in just a couple of weeks. I need something to help feed my family and working at Walmart just won't pay the rent. Also, I have my mom's to stay at for the duration but the adjustment is still taking some time to get used to. We all are working together for that.

Please pray for my kids, me and my mom that we will get through this and God will heal our broken hearts. Most of all that he will show us his will and guidance through it all. God bless. Cathy

Blessings from Fathers

This is my husband. Can you tell what he loves to do the most. No, it's not working, nor is it gardening all though he does like that. He loves to fish. Is there anything else in life?!? He is always catching fish even when the other guys he goes with don't. He's got the touch. The man below is my father. He passed away two years ago. My grandfather died on Fathers Day 16 years ago.

Do I missed them, you bet. But I have such wonderful memories of both of them. My dad loved to horse around with the kids. He would play ball, cowbows and Indians, even barbie and all babies, bar none, bounced on top of his knees. My grandfather was a story teller and quite a good one. He always new how to bait and hook you in a story and bam he'd get you at the end of the story. Everybody would always laugh. He used to tell the same story to my dad over and over but tell it a different way each time and always have the same ending. My grandad and father always had a great sense of humor.

Here my dad is playing monster. You can't hear the roaring from him, but my kids and all adults alike would laugh and run!

This is my family when we went to Hatteras Island. It was wonderful. I want to move there. Can we go now.

This is what all fathers should be doing with their kids today! Not necessarily fishing, not all like to fish, but spending time with the blessings God gave them. This is a father's opportunity to share what he knows, enjoy the laughter of a child and ask God to help him grow in wisdom and grace. My husband is very smart. He is good at anything he puts his mind to! He loves his kids. Happy Fathers Day!

How many ways can you mess up a blog? Well I have become an expert at that. I originally had a wonderful designer create my blog for me. She did a lovely job. See the banner above. But I found free blog templates and wanted to try it out. Little did I know that my blog was very well programmed to stay the way it was. I entered my newly found template, very excited to see my new look for kicks and walla!!! All that hard work GONE! What did I do??? I didn't want to change anything but the background to see if I could. Oh brother, everything was gone, gone, gone. I slumped over in my chair horrified at what I had done, terrified to approach my wonderful web designer. So off I went to fix it myself. Do you hear the song "We're off to see the wizard" playing in the background? That's what I heard.

I looked at several different blogs to see where they got their graphics and researched each and every one. Checked out how to load them into my blog. Contacted anybody who would listen and bombarded them with blog questions. Everyone was wonderful! I finally ate crow and told my web designer (Kim, Craftisan Graphics) what I had done and how I messed it all up. She was so sweet. Thank God for folks who just know that some of us should NEVER be computer designers, maybe we should never go near computers. LOL!

Next I tried several different backgrounds on and finally settled on one. I contacted my banner gal (Deena Davis) and asked her to create a matching banner for my current blog color at the time. She did. It was wonderful, I love those fairies. Aren't they sweet. But my blog looked too busy. Well I wasn't gettin' rid of those fairies, no way now how. I found yet another blog background to fit with my new fairy banner. Yep! I think it finally looks groovy. Hope you all like it because I'm a to tired to fix it again. LOL!

Yep. It's true, Lauren turned seventeen today! I can't believe it. My baby is now a big girl. Beautiful, lovely and smart as a whip. She is amazing to me, her wit, intelligence, its overwhelming and sometimes sad. I know that sounds odd but I am mourning the loss of my little girl but enjoying the new experience of my teen daughter.

Above are the pics that say it all about Lauren. She LOVE's horses, always has, always will. Her skill on a horse is amazing. She was the student all instructors went to to put on the bad horse. The unruly horse. She now rides a horse that no one can ride because she has what they call a "horse whispering" skill. She gets on the horse and listens and takes her time to understand how this horse ticks, what makes it work and then rides. All her instructors used her for that very purpose. Amazing.

Her prom pic is with her boyfriend. They look amazing. She has a figure anyone would die for. I have never seen her look so gorgous. Sparkles in her hair and the color of that dress was perfect for her. Simply stunning.

She also loves cheerleading. She is very personable. No matter what my girl does, she is good at it. Now if I could just get her to clean her room, that would be the icing on the cake.

Watermelon Sally!

What an amazing mouse she has been. She is my number one best seller! This little mouse has been made into many forms. She originated as "Betsy Mouse". Then "Auntie Em", soon she had cousins, friends and then her "Uncle Sam" came to town. It has been an amazing ride with this wonderful little mouse. Her pattern is also a best seller for me as well.

What causes folks to fall in love with such a little object, I don't know. Is it her face, that gentle little smile. Her willingness to always share what she has (as long as you don't mind her taking a nibble first).

Both of these mice sold right away. One never made it onto one of my sites for sale. Silly huh! Greatful yes. So I want to thank Lyana, my mouse lady, for loving these little darlings. I hope she is well stocked with cheese.

More mice are sure to come. New ideas for them are whirling around in my head and will start creating new ones soon. But I need to get some more cheese in my fridge first. LOL! Have a great day!

Dirty Ole' House, God's always on time

This is my bedroom, it had a kitchen in it. All gone now. Pic below is of my scary house. Was white now green with flowers abounding.

I started out melancholy today, feeling a bit sorry for myself. boo hoo I say. My house is very old. 150+ years old. To make matters worse, I live on a corner with two streets. One in front of my house and one beside my house. The dirt and dust from living here is unbearable. It's not gray/white its brown/black dirt and dust and no matter how hard I clean, it NEVER LEAVES!!!! We have been renovating for over 4 years and I'm sooooooooooooo done. The main bathroom has a very, very old nasty shower stall in it. Yep I haven't had a bath in 4 years. Scary huh!

But even in the mist of all this there is blessings. I was afraid to move into the city and fought my husband tooth and nail. I was worried for my kids safety and we have had some problems. But God has kept us safe. I have 130lb Rottweiler and she has already protected us from a drug frenzied girl. This girl came into our house high as a kite and laid on our sofa to sleep her drug high off. My Rottie simply laid on top of the girl and would not let her move. I still laugh about it to this day.

As I sat in my chair starring at one of my many wonderful magazines, a woman knocked on the door. She thanked me for giving her granddaughter my daughter's old mattress. She started talking to me about the Lord and I just smiled. God is so good. He knows just when to bring an angel in your day doesn't he?!? I asked her about her bag she was carrying. She had made it herself. I was just looking at bags in my magazine and was thinking about offering those in my soon to be updated selling blog. She asked me if I new how to help her sell them for extra cash. I just smiled again. How does God do that????? He is amazing.

God has blessed me with wonderful neighbors. My neighbor on the left is now my best friend. My neighbors on the right are of a different race and they have become good friends as well. God doesn't care what color they are does he, why should I? God is so good.

So I am now out of that dark, self brooding pit I woke up with and am blessed and thankful once again. Thanks so much Lord, you are always on time.

New Listings on LPS for May

OK, so I'm a little late telling ya'll about my listings on Lemon Poppy Seeds. Well I do have a life, LOL! At least that is what I'm calling it these days. This first listing is my Liberty Lady. She is made from Osnaburg fabric and is nice and prim.

She is a Snugglebug Blessings original, created by me, Cathy Gray. Okay, enough of the blah, blah blahs. She's a cutie for sure. Lighting the way for Liberty for all.

The next one is Americana Kitty and her crow. Pattern design by Tennessee Ridge Primitives. I just love how this kitty came out. Really meowing I love America!!! Don't you?!? She's made of muslin and has some of that wonderful Sweet Annie tucked inside her pocket. I shot this pic in my new garden bed. Creating that bed has put a crick in my back and neck. But the garden turned out really nice! I'll have to take some pics of that later to share. The wind was whipping when I took this pic, it was impossible to get a shot of the kitty's whiskers laying flat. But the pic still came out pretty good despite the wind. Well it's been a very long time since I have blogged. My computer had viruses and it was very sick. The computer doctor did fix it thank the Lord. So many unhappy things have happened to me lately but I will not go into it. It is Mothers day soon and it is time to celebrate a wonderful gift God has given us, Motherhood!

I have 2 wonderful children, a 16 year old daughter and a 8 year old son. They are truly a blessing to me. Now I have to tell you my daugther is 16 going on 25. She thinks that she can move out now and still go to school, hold a job and head off to college. Is anyone heeheeing yet? We know as mothers that it is wayyyyyyyy to soon for her to do that. She is putting the cart before the horse so to speak and she just isn't ready. Now convincing her is another story. It doesn't matter because she is under age and we won't sign for an apartment for her. NO WAY, NO HOW!!!!

My son still holds that sweet inocence and wonder. I love when he comes home and runs to tell me how his day went. Sometimes I forget that this is very important to him and am busy. That is a big no, no for me and will try harder not to put stuff in front of him. My favorite saying of his is Mom, Mom, you know ............ then he proceeds to tell me what wonderful thing he has discovered or learned. Can't I bottle that????? I love that so much, that sweetness.

I know that many of you have similar stories to tell, many are happy some are sad, but God is with us and has given us these wonderful treasures. So I say to you treasure them, hold them, love them, then let them go......when they are really ready. Happy Mother's Day!

What does Easter Mean to you

What does Easter mean to you? Is it a time of celebration, a gathering of friends and family? A day of relaxation, a religious day or does it have a more significant meaning? Many people will only darken the doors of a church for Easter and Christmas as to pay homage to God and maybe gather some brownie points with him on judgement day. Or to teach their children that we honor God at these times, well what about the rest of the time?

Easter to me means total reverence to God. Complete respect and humility for dieing on the cross for me, for my sins. Lately, I have been awakened to the Lord calling me. I don't mean with an audible voice but in my heart, in my spirit. He is trying to awaken me to get my heart right with him. No, I'm not out robbing banks, but my heart has become way to comfortable in this world, I have unforgiveness in my heart. I judge people and look down at them to myself and with friends sometimes. I lust for things I shouldn't. I want $$$ so I can get something for me that I don't need. I flip the channel to a mindless show when the "Feed the Children" commercial comes on. I have a hard heart.

All these things are hard to admit to you. I want you to think that I am perfect. I am such a Godly Christian woman. I do little sins, but doesn't everybody? Not ones that will send me, well you no where. God is calling us to become holy, not next week, or month or year...NOW. If you haven't noticed, everyone is talking about the end times...everyone, in all nations. God is preparing our hearts for his coming, which I believe is soon. So I write this not to rebuke anyone but to encourage you to prepare the way for the coming of the Lord, it is soon. Are you ready? May you find rest in His love, forgiveness from His cross, hope for His coming.........soon! Ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins today! He loves you and is waiting to take you in His arms. Amen

A Flower, a Mouse, and Big Ears

A flower, a mouse, and big ears?!? She was dancing in the sunlight, giggling and scampering through the field. Then suddenly, a drip here, a drip there and before you know it rain drops. She scattered towards the undergrowth in the woods and came upon a wonderful group of yellow flowers. They were big, big enough to cover herself all the way home. She tugged, she pulled, she fell on her tush twice. That made her giggle, but with a few chews of her teeth, she managed to loosen and pull the very large flower umbrella, as she called it, from its root. The flower was a surprisingly light, she was glad about that because she had a long way to go to get home.

The rain continued to fall as she scurried home, but she wasn't worried. She had her beautiful flower umbrella and that's all she needed. So you are asking yourself what do the big ears have to do with it? Well, nothing really. Except they sit on top of her head and make her look really adorable. HeeHee!

Humble Arts April Offering

This is my offering for the Humble Arts for April. She is approx. 26" tall and very light for as tall as she is. I hand stitched her face and shaded around her eyes. You can't see her bag (gotta go to HARTs on April 1st) but lots of vintage buttons attached and it has some lavender potpourri tucked inside. Polka dots adorn her torso and she has been antiqued with my coffee dye mixture. Her skirt is made from an old pillow case with hand crochet lace. Made from lots of vintage lace finds, she will look fabulous anywhere or in any styled home you may have. This is a "Hootin' Annies" pattern, created by me, Cathy Gray. Give CREDIT where it is due

Okay I'm not one to complain but today I am. I have noticed lately when I browse some of my favorite sites that gals are not giving credit where it is due. When you use another designer's pattern, you need to give the credit for that designer who originally created it. Now I am one to totally understand forgetting to do that. I had created a doll and forgot to put the designer's name. Even though I had sold that doll, I went back when I discovered my error and placed the designers name in the description.

Folks, creating a doll pattern from scratch takes a long time, a lot of work and a great deal of thinking. Not only does it take time but sometimes we designers have to go back and redo the pattern over and over to get it right. Some of my patterns have taken a week to create because I was not satisfied with how it came out and most of mine are simple, not as complicated as many of the others I have seen and used.

Above are some examples of dolls and items that have been made without credit given to the designer. Venus Mercantile created that wonderful bunny pattern and I created the nosegays. My nosegays were copied on a site that I am on and even though they are not copywrited I thought it was in poor taste to be so obvious about it. I have had several of my creations being sold and copied with no credit given to me. I have also found on other sites dolls that I new who the designer was but the creator of that doll made no mention of that designer, therefore inadvertently taking the whole credit.

I encourage you to not be afraid to give the credit where it is due. Why you ask, because it shows that you are a professional, that you respect your peers and that you would not want this to happen to you if you became proficient enough to create a doll pattern. I do understand that we all take bits and pieces from other artists, many are my muse for certain. One doll designer, Kentucky Primitives (one of my many favs) makes mice, I LOVE HER MICE ( I own one of her mice) but my mouse that I created after purchasing hers, does not look like hers at all. But she is my muse, my inspiration.

So, let those of you that you admire, inspire, not copy or take all the credit for a piece that you made, if you used another designer's pattern. Thank you!

Being Thankful

Just a few minutes ago I read about a woman who was getting married and how all the details had gotten the best of her. How she worried about what her husband would think about the dress, if he would like it or not. She stressed and stressed over that. Her husband replied that none of that mattered. What really mattered to him was that if she really loved him and would stay faithful and would continue to work on what really mattered with the Lord and their marriage. (see "Internet Devotions on the right for more)

This was such a wake up call to me. Because I have stressed and stressed over this and that and have forgotten what really matters, not my business, not getting kudos from my customers (although I really appreciate it really do), not getting everything I think important done in my day, but focusing on what really matters...the Lord. I run to and fro and forget what He has done for me and sometimes I treat Him like "what have you done for me lately kinda God". But when I give it to Him and realize how much He HAS already done for me, I am thankful. I have been so blessed. I can't say that things here at my home are good all the time. Sometimes they are very rough. Living with an unsaved husband is very, very hard. We ARE on OPPOSITE sides of the fence most of the time. But God has my best interest at heart, no matter what my home situation is or business outcome is. He is blessing it for sure. He has brought folks into my life to help me along and they have. He is blessing my life even though it is hard here at home sometimes.

So I say take a moment and reflect on His wondrous grace, gifts, love and salvation Stroll outside and look at the sky, the trees, the wildlife and even the weather, warm or cool. It is all a gift. Thank Him. God bless. Photo by: Lauren Gray, age 16

Make a Wish!

Fairies are a skittish lot. They are not prone to being found out in the open. They have been captured and stuck in a jar to be viewed for only a moment then left on someones shelf for days until their fair sisters with wings comes to rescue them. Others have been captured for their special magical powers. Then once the captor has finished with them, they are tossed aside like last night's trash. Never to be seen again.

It is by this fairy's wish that she came to me. I did not capture her, she came willingly. Fairies know your heart, they can tell by the way you treat your animals and children if you are worthy of meeting them. Then they are willing to share the gift that they were born with. This fairy is a "Make a Wish" fairy. She has come to me and offered me a wish. I am glad to know that my love for my children and animals has given me this blessing. "My wish must be happy" she says. So that is what I will do. My wish is for you to visit her at the "Humble Arts" today and see all the wonderful offerings that have been listed there. Good morning world. Still no Spring. I think it is hiding under a rock somewhere don't you. Hum....where oh where could it be?!? I'm still looking for it. But until I find it, I thought I would invite you to visit me and the gals over at the "Humble Arts". We too are looooooooooonging for Spring and I think our offerings show that. Meet Iva Mouse

Good morning. Meet Iva mouse. She is my latest prim mousy that has sold just recently on Lemon Poppy Seeds. Everyone seems to really like these little gals. I was looking through some other sites and saw how fast these mice were selling and just loved their sweet little faces, so I new why. So off I went to my attic to create Iva mouse. Iva mouse is cousin to Betsy mouse, who sold just as fast. Hum....I think I will be making more mice. My next mouse will be a birthday mouse, clown like. I want to offer that one on my Humble Arts site. So I will keep you posted. Squeak, Squeak, does anybody have some cheese? LOL!

Hi Ladies,

Today is the day of Looooooooooove!!! Do you feel it?!? We should be kissin' and a huggin' everybody we know today! It's time to show all those that matter in your life how much you care. It's not that we don't care more for them today, it's just that we get to be really mushy with the ones we looooooove especially today! I like that. It's a great option and I plan on smoochin' everybody I can, especially my son who tells me regularly "no kissy, no huggy". Yep, that's my boy. He doesn't like that mushy stuff but he is not gettin' off the hook that easily today, no sir!!! I wll be kissin' him all day long and stealin' a hug or two.

My daughter is just the opposite, she is very huggy and kissy even at 16 years old. Well, not as much as she used to be, but still lovey for sure.

My dogs and cat are always lovey and I get plenty of licks from them especially when I have food in my hands. LOL! So I hope your day is wonderful and you get plenty of "kissys and huggys" and be full of the looooooooooooooove thing. Happy Valentines Day!!!

Can my business grow?

This morning as I read through "Where Women Create" and processed how these women became so successful I pondered my plight, "can I too be as successful"? I want to know if it is possible for me. It seems that every time I push to get my business off the ground something major happens in my life and I get side tracked. Last year I lost my dad, this year my mother is very ill and in the hospital. Dare I say "what next"? If I can't be up in my craft room working, then nothing is getting done, therefore no chance of my business growing. Feeling a bit frustrated today.

The how, what, where, why and who's are running through my mind. How do I move my business forward, what do I need to do to make money to help my family, where do I begin, why can't I get this business moving and who's shop or magazine or on-line site should I advertise on? I know I'm not the only one who has contemplated these questions. But it is constantly running through my mind. God seems to be increasing my skill level, thank you Lord, but if I can't move my business out of the attic, so to speak, then what good is this new found skill?

It is true, I am inpatient for sure. I want it now but I have viable reasons for that. My husband is out of work and has been for some time. My mom is in the hospital and now my daughter has the flu. I am needed home not at work somewhere. But I need to make the cold hard cash $$$. So time to stop complaining and hit my knees and talk to the Lord. These are hard times and many people are in my boat. So I'm not rowing alone for sure. So it's time to trust that God has my business in his hands and it will move forward in his time not mine. Lord help me to trust you and believe this love for what I do and these new skills are not in vain. Amen.
